Today, if you ask a supplier if they could provide LED filament bulbs, it’s very likely you are getting an “Yes”.
The fact is, are LED filament bulbs already so mature that every factory could produce them?
Now, as a LED filament bulbs manufacturer since 2013 (yes we were among the first few players), let me show you how to source in China easily. Basically, you can’t buy what you don’t know, so I am going to focus on 4 critical aspects of LED filament bulbs you need to consider.
#1. LED Filaments
As the core technology in LED filament bulb, the LED filaments may all look similar, but they are actually quite different.
The scope of the filament technology covers LED chips, adhesives, phosphor powder and substrates. Each of these will affect the performance and reliability.
The LED filament can be made with sapphire, glass, and transparent ceramic substrates. Metal substrate LED filaments are currently rarely seen on the market, due to the high soldering fail rate.

In summary, if the last three aspects are too complicated for you to ask for, you might just do this step.
Ask for the light test reports and other important tests. So you could see the real testing results compared to the declared data, make sure the tests are stable output, and still within the tolerance of the declaration.
Next, if a supplier has been in your market, they should have the right tests and reports that needed in your market, and most importantly, they should be conducted by well-known agents like TUV, SGS or Intertek.
There are many unknown testing agents in China, who could just issue you the reports as long as you pay. However, for such agents, the tests and reports could not tell the quality at all.
Testing with a well-known agent is expensive, that is right, but when a manufacturer chose to test with such testing agents, it means they are very serious with their business, so they will also care a lot about the quality.
It’s also very important that the manufacturer could update the tests and reports as per the latest standards and regulations, which will save you tons of trouble when importing.
When you asked for samples for testing yourselves, you could open up the driver to see if it’s also same as the those showed the test reports, and you could ask the manufacturer to maintain everything unless information and approval.
